Ferryman Polytunnels are renowned for their solid build quality. The frames are manufactured from pre-galvanised steel tube, a smooth coating protecting the inside and outside from corrosion. The 8', 10',12' and 16' models have a vertical side approximately 33" high, the 14' and 18' tunnels are semi circular, enhanced to give maximum working area.

All Ferryman Classic and Tufftunnels have a 5' hoop spacing which has an advantage in strength and ease of cladding. Other tunnels are made with hoops at wider spacing, some with larger diameter tube. A Ferryman Polytunnel 30' x 14' will have 7 complete hoops; the same length tunnel with 6 hoop spacing has only 6 hoops and a 28' x 14' tunnel with 7' hoop spacing has only 5 hoops. If these tunnels were built of 1¼" tube of the same wall thickness the Ferryman Polytunnel would still have 10% more weight of steel in the first case and 25% more in the second. Ferryman Polytunnels have proven strength.

• There are no screwed clamps or joiners in a Ferryman Classic and Tufftunnels, these score the galvanised tube and rust in their fittings. Our hoops are joined at the top using a hot dipped sleeve joiner which carries the ridge tube under the hoop, out of contact with the polythene. We fit a horizontal brace in each corner which is held in position by a special clamp which grips the hoop and fits internally in the brace tube. This system allows the fitting of a brace in every bay should this be required.

Ferryman Polytunnels have proper opening doors at both ends of the tunnel. The standard arrangement is for roll up blind doors, strong hinged doors are also available. For smaller tunnels the opening is 4' wide and 6' high which is essential for good ventilation and easy access for all garden machinery including garden tractors, the 16' and 8' wide tunnels have 8' wide doors. The standard roll up doors are easy to fit and virtually stormproof when properly secured. The blind is 1' wider than the door opening and will easily accommodate any inaccuracies in construction. Our hinged door kit is intended to be assembled on site where it can be made to fit the actual door size.
